Midterm Results

by Monica A.

When the midterm fire reached a pitch, it was clear what needed to happen. From the election of Brett Kavanaugh to the supreme court and the heightening distrust of the American government. The biggest mistake that could have ever happened no matter WHAT side of the isle you fall on is for all three branches of government to be run by any one party. That is a dangerous affair. A blue wave was more than necessary. And I do not mean that in a monster-liberal way but, the blue wave that we had was strong enough. The House is now occupied mostly by Democrats. Now, this is technically only half of a third of our government system, but something is better than nothing. Even within the confines of this rough, rigged election, many boundaries were breached! A republican from South Dakota was made the first female governor of the state (Kristi Noem). Republican Marsha Blackburn currently one of the representatives on the U.S. House of Representatives, became Tennessee’s first female senator! Democrat Rashida Tlaib became the first Muslim-Pakistani woman to serve in Congress. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, became the youngest woman elected to Congress. Democrat Sharice Davids became the first Native American woman elected to Congress.

So many first were made, and many more will continue to be achieved! Be head my warning Crème readers. At any given point, there should never EVER be total control in the hands of one or the other political party. Educate yourselves on the premises of checks and balances and what they really do, because if one party holds all three branches of government, there will be no checks or balances. And in scenarios as such, the American people will lose so much more than you would think possible.
