“Bird Box Lady.” “Mom from the Blindside.” Miss Congeniality. Sandra Bullock is known primarily for her acting in some iconic, very impactful roles, but that’s not where her voice stops. Not only does she have a plethora of professional roles that highlight feminist ideas, like women’s independence and strength, and ethnic equality, but she expresses that in her personal life too.
Sandra Bullock is a woman that stands for women and men getting along equally. She wants workplace equality in not only wages, where appropriate, but also in experience. As a woman in her industry, she strives for her and her coworkers to have good experiences and equal enjoyment and respect. She wants that for her audience too. She wishes for her audience to be able to experience all kinds of movies without it being stigmatized because its a ‘chick-flick’ or dubbed a guys movie.
Personally, Sandra Bullock is a mom who thinks her being a mom is her business. She supports women in the workplace being able to be a working mom, just like her. That doesn't mean sacrificing love for your children or being a negative kind of selfish. Being supportive of yourself and your children is important.
Sandra Bullock has represented women in the media in a good, yet controversial light. She has taken roles that can make some people uncomfortable because they are often strong female characters that are independent and unafraid of societal backlash. Sandra Bullock has shown growth over her career to include other social issues, and we can expect so see more from her in the future.
